The so-called women's consciousness is "that women have a consciousness of their existence as a subject and value are equal with men." In thousands of years-long feudal society in China, the role of women has been submerged, they are just a accessories of men without self-consciousness. Up to 54 times, women began to floate to the surface of history gradually, then to the new era, women's consciousness get a further development. With the end of the Cultural Revolution, the literary world began to break through the the prison of "asceticism".The literature reflecting love emerged in large numbers, especially the rising of novels concerning extramarital affairs.Along the subject's context we can discover the transformation of women's consciousness from the image of wife in novles, and then get a more in-depth significance and reflection on this basis.In the paper I will get a macro background, literary trends and micro-analysis together,based on the perspectives of feminist, then combined with the arguments related with sociology, ethics and anthropology to study the development of female consciousness in a method of diachronic research.From the image of wife in extramarital affairs fictions we can clearly find a trend of women's consciousness as below:the recovery of women's consciousness in earlier times,the awakening of female's sexual consciousness in medium-term,and then the diversification of the image of wife in the 1990's. We find it is a helical trend.This finding is undoubtedly exciting and of great historical and practical significance.However,we can not ignore the frustration, repeation, misunderstanding or even regression on the way of the awakening of female's consciousness.It is more worthy for us to consider carefully.In the modern world with a rapid change, women have to be more independent, self-improvement because of the strong pressures from society. And the marriage that used to be regarded as an umbrella of woman is no longer a cozy nest once and for all,but a siege that may be captured at any time. Because of this, women must begin to wake up their own sense,then make the sense more mature.Only do this can women have a wider sky.
