Qin Zihao's Poetry And Poetic

Qin Zihao (1912-1963) was born in Guanghan County,Sichuan Province. He became a well-known poet since he went to Taiwan from the mainland. With his poetry,poetics,poems translation and poetry education,he made significant contribution to modern poetry in Taiwan and played a decisive role.His poetry changed a lot. His earlier poems are clearer,more romantic,lyric,and realistic,reflecting the positive thinking of the Confucian;later poems are from concrete to abstract,full of mystery and the unseen mood,intellectual,esoteric,detached,ethereal,which can be seen the impact of modernism,especially the western symbolism. At the same time,we can also see the influence of Buddhist,Taoist,such as the Buddhist,the quiet Zen,Lao-style dialectics,etc,from the later poems.Poetry changes with the age of Qin Zihao.With his innovative ideas,he was constantly seeking to explore the spirit of the poetry. And he has the traditional Chinese spirit of Confucianism,Buddhism,Taoism,with the confluence of Western modernism. This is the internal reason. In addition,he is influenced by the politics,economy,habits of modern literature in Taiwan in the fifties or sixties,Twentieth century.The debate between he and Ji Xian's reflects his Mean Thought of Confucian doctrine,without excess and deficiency;and the debate between he and Su Xuelin reveals his preference for symbolism. He is in the same front with Ji Xuan,and they are all modern poets,but Ji Xuan has a desperate courage,and Qin Zihao is very cautious. They have made great contributions to modern poetry in Taiwan.His poetic education is gentle,and he is tireless in teaching. His books,such as Modern Poetry,Anatomy of Poetry,have a great inspiration for the beginners who write poetry and ordinary readers. He helped countless new poets,such as Xiang Ming, Ya Xuan,Mai Sui,Yang Huaming,Xiao Min,Wen Xiaocun,Xin Yu and so on. Qin Zihao respects French Symbolism,at the same time he does not reject the poems of the French Romantic master,so he translated French poetry of many poets into Chinese,then published them as the book French Poems. Many of his theories on poetry,a detailed analysis of the various schools of poetry became a window to the world poetry in Taiwan.The research methods about Qin Zihao's poems is the combination between traditional Chinese culture,Confucianism,Buddhism,Taoism and European and American New Criticism. Through detailed text reading,referring for poet's biography,contacting Ancient Chinese Poetry with poet's poetry,careful analysis of the poems,from which we can find poet's style and changes of his style,and analyse the causes of changes in his style through inside and outside. As for the aspects of the debates and poetics,we can find the perspectives of poets in many ways by summarizing them,and comparing them with each other.
