The relationship between Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism in the early Tang Dynasty is actually a traditional Chinese ideological and cultural system with the core of the relationship between Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.The relationship between Confucianism and Taoism formed in the pre-Qin period,and under the circumstances of the introduction of Buddhism and the development of Confucianism and Taoism since the Han Dynasty,a parallel ideological and cultural system of the three religions has been formed.In the early Tang Dynasty,Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,on the basis of experiencing the comparative meaning of the Wei,Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties,for the first time faced the "unified" country.The performance of the rulers and the three religions in the early Tang Dynasty directly affected the attitude of later generations towards the relationship between the three religions.At the beginning of Tang Dynasty,the three religions debates were typical.There were 19 large-scale debates organized by official organizations,which retained detailed and abundant data.Among them,the contents and ideas mentioned in the debates could highlight the characteristics of the times at that time and have representative significance.The topic is based on the vertical historical period and the concrete results of ideological exchange.Starting from the concrete historical facts of the exchange of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,this paper not only pays attention to the macroscopical nature of history,but also pays attention to the content and thought depth of the three religions in the process of exchange,trying to clarify the details of the exchange of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism in the early Tang Dynasty and the deep-seated reasons for the development of ideology.Based on the early Tang Dynasty,the article mainly elects the three emperors in the early Tang Dynasty,namely,Gaozu,Taizong and Gaozong.It further highlights the significance of the exchange and development of the three religions in the early Tang Dynasty for the development of the whole Chinese ideological history.At the same time,it focuses on 19 debates organized by the official organizations in the early Tang Dynasty as a clue,and demonstrates the vitality of China's ideological and cultural development through the analysis of the specific historical facts,policies,connotations,characteristics and significance of the debates,proving the outstanding contributions made by the early Tang Dynasty in the development of the whole Chinese ideology.Firstly,from the microcosmic perspective,with respect for Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism as the three standpoints,this paper analyzes the theoretical value and practical significance of the three religions by analyzing the rulers'actions towards the three religions and the ideological characteristics reflected in the debating process of each religion.Then,from a macro perspective,through the analysis of the connotation and performance of 19 debates,the characteristics of the debates of the three religions are analyzed as a whole.Finally,after a comprehensive analysis,it is concluded that the early Tang Dynasty did not regard Tao as the traditional meaning of respect,but under the cover of Buddhism and Taoism,in fact,respecting Confucianism vigorously.This idea and policy also had a far-reaching impact on the relationship between the three religions of later generations.
