He began his study in 1964, under Master Feng Zicun's instruction, the founder of the Chinese Northern Flute Genre. In 1969 he stayed in China Conservatory and jointed the faculty. By the year 1973, he was transferred to Henan University and has been doing theoretic research and teaching flute here ever since. In Henan University, he has cultivated quite a number of flute-playing talented students, published over 10 pieces of academic research papers and composed more than 20 pieces of flute solos. This research paper will be divided into four aspects, in order to study Professor Ma's flute art comprehensively and systematically. The four aspects are: Ma Dianquan's music life; research on Ma Dianquan's flute works; distinguished features of Ma Dianquan's flute playing and Ma Dianquan's training methods for flute playing. Through researching on these four aspects, we will draw a conclusion of how much contribution Professor Ma has made for the flute art, and this study will provide more information for other flute players to study further about MaDianquan's artistic composing, playing style and teaching experience.
