The Research On The Poet Sun Dayuy

Sun Dayu(1905-1997),was a famous crescent poet, poetry theorist and translator. He began to publish poetry in 1920.And in just a few years these poems became mature. He just wrote 18 poems in all of his life. All the poems were not affected much in poetry field at that time although. Sun Dayu was always searching the poetic form and content intensively, resulting the style features. All the work which Sun Dayu did worth to study.At the early stage, Sun Dayu referred and simulated other poets'style. He wrote "Tagore" type poem. From his middle age, Sun Dayu explored his own poetic style on the basis of observing the English poetry. He wrote"Autumn Night","Summer Cloud", "Lotus Garden" and other poems. At the same time, Sun Dayu had also started to think of the new poem form. Since then, Sun Dayu formed his own poetry style gradually, that is careful and precise on metrical form and muscular on the content .His masterpieces are "Sea Song", "New York City," "Own Image" and so on. These poems were appreciated by some great people such as Xu Zhimo, Liang Shiqiu, Shao XunmeiSun Dayu was not only a poet but also a poem theorist. Sun Dayu created the new poem metrical theory .He loved English poetry very much in his youth. Later he wrote some poems. These activities were took part in his thinking of the poem theory. Sun Dayu got inspiration from English poetry form ,then he combined with the Chinese Language character. On this basis, he created the metrical theory which fit for the Chinese poem.Sun Dayu was also a translator. Sun Dayu translated eight Shakespearean dramas. His translated works of Shakespearean dramas are few but of good quality. He initially applied the theory of metre to translating the Shakespearean dramas. The Chinese sound groups correspond with the iambic Pentameter in source texts. He tried to introduce the essence and translate the source text to a lifelike extent. Apart from the translations of Shakespearean dramas, Sun Dayu translated Part of QuYuan's Poems,China classical Poetry in Han &Tang Dynasty such as Pan Yue, Liu Lin,Tao Qian and some English Poems, which are respectively collected in the following books: Selected Poems of Chu Yuan,Selection of Chinese Ancient Poems and Essays and Selected English Poems Rendered into Chinese Verse. Sun Dayu's translation activity is affected by his metrical theory. They are mutual relationship. Otherwise the metical theory took part in the translation activity lately. In Sun Dayu's youth, he wrote some excellent poems by the guide of metrical theory, but he can't applied the theory to the translation activity. In his middle-aged, Sun Dayu put his heart to translate Shakespearean dramas and poems using metrical theory. Sun Dayu formed his own translation theory and got the position as a famous translator.Sun Dayu got literary achievement in poetry field, translation field and poetic theory field. Poet is Sun Dayu's character. In his youth, Sun Dayu write poems mainly. From his middle-aged, he was dedicated to poetry and Shakespearean dramas translation. Poetry theory activities run through all Sun Dayu's literature activities. So writing poem was his impetus. On this basis, Sun Dayu got the poetry metrical theory, applied in the translation.
