A C-E Translation Report On The Practical Significance Of Dayu Taming The Floods And Its Impact On Chinese Civilization

Dayu tamed the floods,and it is an important event in the history of the Chinese civilization's development.In the process of floods control,Dayu worked hard and overcame the difficulties,eventually obtained the success of floods control.Selecting this issue is beneficial to the discovery of traditional culture's modern meaning,meanwhile for foreigners it is helpful to a better understanding of Chinese traditional culture as well,and facilitate the communication between Chinese and overseas areas.This article is the report on the academic thesis “ The Practical Significance of Dayu Taming the Floods and Its Impact on Chinese Civilization”.This translation report is made up of six chapters,the chapter one introduction mainly introduces the project's background information and the layout of the report,the chapter two is about project description and preparation before translation,including the source of the project tand its linguistic features' analysis,the preparation before translation contains the reading of some parallel texts and the usage of some translation tools.The chapter three is the introduction to Peter Newmark's semantic and communicative translation theory ae well as the language function theory.The fourth part is the core of this thesis,the case study,in the process of translation,the author adopted the translation methods,such as the literal translation,free translation,omission and addition,literal translation with annotation and transliteration with annotation.The author solved the translation of ancient Chinese as the crucial problem.The chapter five is the project assessment,and the chapter six is the conclusion of the whole report.The author summarize some experiences through translating this source text,and hoping it will be taken as reference for the translation of similar articles.
