A Study Of The Relationship Between Social Anxiety, Family Cohesion And Personal Evaluation In Graduate Students

Social anxiety is defined that when someone actually or fancily faces social context, he fears to be evaluating, accompanied by increasing anxiety and avoidance behavior. Social anxiety is an important obstacle to graduate students on Performance and it has adverse effects on their normal interpersonal communication. It has a close relation with family cohesion and personal evaluation. Using the questionnaire method, we analyze the current situation of graduate students'social anxiety, Family Cohesion and Adaptability and the correlation between them. It will be helpful for graduate students to relieve social anxiety, and it also provides a theoretical basis of education intervention to educators.Using Social Avoidance and Distress Scale drawn up by Watson and Friend .FACESⅡ—CV drawn up by Olson, Personal Evaluation Inventory, I tested 324 graduate students of 4 university :Agricultural University of Hebei, Hebei University, Hebei University of Science and Technology,and North China Coal Medical University. The obtained data uses the SPSSl3.0 Software on Processing. Through the variance analysis,the correlation analysis,draw the following conclusions:1. The degree of social anxiety is higher, and has significance difference in different sexes and majors. The degree of social anxiety in women is higher than in men, and it is higher in medicine students than in science students.2. The degree of family cohesion has significance difference in different sexes and it is higher in women than in men. The difference on family cohesion between the group whose parent has got a postgraduate degree and the group whose parent has got a high school degree is remarkable. It shows the former group marks lower than the latter one.3. The difference on personal evaluation between the group whose father has got a postgraduate degree and the group whose father has got a high school degree is remarkable. It shows the former group marks lower than the latter one.4. The personal evaluation plays a moderating role on the correlation of social anxiety and family cohesion.
