After the selection of the university entrance examination, college students are equally matched. In this new environment, they are no longer as outstanding as in high school. Faced with new challenges, they tend to be at a loss and doubt themselves easily. They begin to reduce self-evaluation, becoming more and more unlike themselves. College students are worried about that they are not good enough and more afraid that others will find them not good enough. Thus they do not want to interact with others frequently, which makes college students experience social anxiety to a certain extend. Studies have shown that self-evaluation and social anxiety have an important influence on one`s mental health. A higher level of self-evaluation helps to raise the level of individual confidence, is conductive to form a good interpersonal relationship, can improve the social adaptability. This paper explores how to improve the college students` self-evaluation and decrease social anxiety, which can promote their healthy development during the college. The group counseling is currently the most widely used form of group counseling, and it focuses on the members of the self-improvement. College students are in a critical period of self consciousness formation, and their mainly growth goal in this stage is to develop themselves. Therefore, the study which uses the group counseling to improve the level of colleges` self-evaluation is feasible. Previous researches have not directly investigated the relationship between self-evaluation and social anxiety, so the purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the two, and further to explore the effects of group counseling on self-evaluation and social anxiety.There are three parts in the study. The first part investigates self-evaluation and social anxiety state of university students; the second part explores the relationship between self-evaluation and social anxiety; the third part is to design and verify the scheme of group counseling, improving the level of colleges` self-evaluation through group counseling, reducing the level of social anxiety through improving the level of self-evaluation. Study one and study two adopt the cluster sampling method to conduct a questionnaire survey, which select 700 college students as subjects, including 563 valid subjects in Hebei Normal University, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Shi Jiazhuang College. Study three adopting pre-and-post tests on the experimental group and control group, selects 32 students as experimental group and 32 students as control group from in Hebei Normal University. The experimental group are engaged in a eight-time group counseling. The results of the study are as follows:Study one shows that: gender, whether class committee or not, satisfaction for the major, origin of student, whether only child or not have a significant impact on the collage students` self-evaluation. whether class committee or not, origin of student have a significant impact on the collage students social anxiety.Study two shows that: self-evaluation and its various dimensions have a significant negative correlation with social anxiety and its various dimensions, and self-evaluation can predict positive social anxiety significantly.Study three shows that: group counseling can significantly improve the level of college students` self-evaluation, and reduce the social anxiety level.
