Pennebaker and Beall(1986)discovered a intervention strategy which can improve health called emotional disclosure paradigm . The study lasts for four days , and wrote for 15 minutes emotional fact each day . The result of the study show that emotional disclosure can improve the health of subjects . Frattaroli(2006)pointed out that the theory of emotional disclosure contained inhibition release theory , cognitive processing theory , self-regulation theory , social integration theory and exposure theory . Exposure theory holds that the longer disclosure , the more number repeat , the better effect of emotional disclosure will receive . But the theory only describe a trend on disclosure time for each time , it do not make a clear note for the baseline of disclosure time , and explore the baseline of disclosure time of exposure theory can regulate the variable of time boundary condition of paradigm of emotional disclosure . In addition , many researchers hold subjectivity and blindness on choosing variables of personality when they explore the difference that effect of emotional disclosure on personality . Also , different results received when researchers explore the effect of emotional disclosure on gender .In this paper , 115 students of junior three were chose for experiment . Subjects were randomly divided into 5 groups : group of emotional disclosure for 2 minutes , group of emotional disclosure for 5 minutes , group of emotional disclosure for 15 minutes , control group of non-emotional disclosure for 15 minutes and control group of non-disclosure . All subjects completed a variety of scales before experiment , including scale of mental health , scale of physical health , scale of life event for adolescent and scale of Eysenck personality for short form , at the same time , the teacher provide scores of examination this month . The study lasts for four days and 2 months later , all subjects completed scales again , including scale of mental health , scale of physical health and scale of intervention reliability , also , teacher provide scores of examination again . Group as independent variable , tests before experiment as covariates and tests after experiment as dependent variables for analysis of covariance .Conclusion : Emotional disclosure can improve the level of mental health , but can not improve the effect of physical health and academic performance ; the baseline of disclosure time for exposure theory of emotional disclosure may between 2-5 minutes , the variable of time boundary condition of emotional disclosure changed as follows : emotional disclosure time for each time become 5 minutes ; The effects of emotional disclosure do not have difference on personality , but on gender , that is , males benefit greater than females on effects of emotional disclosure ; The positive attitude which subjects hold can improve the effects of emotional disclosure .
