Northern and Southern Dynasties is a critical period of transition from Han to Tang Unity in Chinese history. This thesis combs the military struggle, the border line and their relationships of the Later Three kingdoms in terms of reading historical materials about the Western Wei and Northern Zhou, Eastern Wei and Northern Qi, Southern Liang, which come from the post-split of the Northern Wei. To the AD 534 as the boundary, with the Northern division, and the establishment of Western and Eastern Wei, A short unified situation in northern China was broken, and after more than a half century-long, regime Gao, Yuwen and the Southern Liang conducted a long period of time protracted war. Thus the tripartite regime, especially in the middle border regions made several large-scale battles, and the border lines between them were constantly changing. At various times, with the overall power of three regimes changed, their military struggle in key areas are not all the same:first of all, the Eastern Wei advantaged, starting to competing with Western Wei along the Yellow River in the three strategic pass regions, At last Western Wei hold its ground, starting to deep into east and south, even to the east and south areas of the Yellow river; then while Hou Jing has betrayed the Eastern Wei and XiaoLiang, again, a series of wars started between the three countries, the border areas had to reshuffle the cards, Wei Qi moved the south border along the Yangtze river, while the Western Wei won two regions called Liangyi and Jingxiang in the western areas, XiaoLiang was eventually replaced by the South Chen; At last, under the leadership of Yu Wen Yong, the Northern Zhou has captured the capitals of the Southern Qi Jinyang and Ye city, then followed by war controlled its southern border line with southern Chen in Huainan region, so as to lay the foundation for the unity of Sui Dynasty. Finally, this thesis makes a brief analysis about the historical reasons from various angles why in the end the Northern Zhou Dynasty unified the North.
