Study On Chen Duxiu's Thought Of National Character

Around the issues of the modernization of people, many Chinese intellectuals in modern times have shows their views and claims on the thought of remolding national character. Chen Duxiu's views on the thought of remolding national character are part of the study on the thought of remolding national character. He has inherited Yan Fu, Liang Qichao, and Zhang Taiyan's views in many aspects. Even more, Chen Duxiu has made some breakthrough and has his own feature in some aspects.In this paper, before we investigate the intellectuals in modern times'views on the thought of remolding national character, we should make clear of the concept over the 'national character'. From the views of Chen Duxiu's thought on national character, we can see that his views on national character are different from YanFu, Liang Qichao, and Zhang Taiyan, etc. He does not only focus on comparing what Chinese national character is and what western countries'national character is, but also focuses on what their differences are, their effects on our country, and how they try to make some efforts to change these differences. Chen Duxiu does not try to change national character itself, he tries to consider it in a social background. Therefore, Chen Duxiu does not only try to change the national character, he wants to change all people in our country.From the analysis of Chen Duxiu's thought on national character, we can perceive that many intellectuals like Chen in modern times is in anxiety. It is precisely Chen Duxiu' special enlightens on Chinese people and his courage on act, thus they make him the status in China's modern times.
