The Alternative Expression Of Enlightenment

As two independent existence of modern and contemporary literature in China, the style of Shen Chongwen and Li Rui is quite different from literary creative consciousness and artistic pursuit in the tide of the Enlightenment literature in that age. Taking self-demand as writing motivation, and the most direct life experience as the basic element, there's difference in two writer's question toward the Enlightenment. This thesis attempts to find and analyze the heterogeneous and complex tangle of the strong Enlightenment.In the background of the Enlightenment of the Chinese elite intellectuals in the twentith century, as the theoretical premise of concept division between Chinese and Western Enlightenment, on the basis of consolidated material accumulation and by the method of close reading, this thesis explores questioned thought about Enlightenment in Shen Chongwen's country novel and Li Rui's series novels of Hou Tu and in the tide of parodox era of the Enlightenment, and specifically discusses the two writers'different narrating principles under the enlightenment skepticism ideology and varied emotional sustenance for the countryside. The thesis also explores into the reasons behind the heterogeneity about the enlightenment skepticism ideology from the life experience, family background and cultural mission of the two writers.The first chapter stating the current enlightenment research by Sheng Chongwen and Li Rui respectively, thinks that there are two problems in Sheng Chongwen's research, lacking the detail and cautiousness about the appraisal of torchbearer's identity in the ignorance of the detail research and idetification of the writer's experience, character and enlightenment ideas and furthermore, causing the enlightenment research about Sheng Chongwen's ideas heterogeneous and confused without the clear analysis of the formation of the author's thinking, concrete expression and the internal coorelation. As for the research about Li Rui's enlightenment ideas, there's a large space for improvement and upgrading from the exploration of the creation of the author's psychology and life experience.The second chapter decomposes and analyzes the different meanings about enlightenment in the context of China and Western countries.The third chapter analyzes the alternative expression of Shen Chongwen and Li Rui's enlightenment from four parts:the misunderstanding about "the aesthetic enlightenment" by academic circles, the writer's questioned possibility to enlightenment, the question to the writer's qualification and the false desolation and lament to the enlightenment by writers.Chapter four analyzes the heterogeneity of two writers' alternative Enlightenment, mainly expressed in different narrating principles about country and different emotional sustenance.Chapter five analyzes the reason for the formation of heterogeneity from the author's upbringing, personality and temperament.The conclusion points out that the misreading to Shen Chongwen and Li Rui's enlightenment ideas by academic circles is derived from the monopoly of enlightenment discourse era, and we should break this kind of restriction in order to find out the most authentic expression of literature.
