The Study Of Henan Dapingdiao Opera

The Henan-Dapingdiao opera is one of the local operas, ranked the fourth largest opera in Henan Province, China. Since the nineties of last century, the Henan-Dapingdiao opera has become an endangered opera to develop diffcultly and was the first state-level income of non-material cultural heritage. In this thesis, the Henan-Dapingdiao opera is the main object of investigation which includes tracing its origins and looking for its future prospects based on the status of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera. The main achievements of this thesis are described from five aspect in the following:Introduction is the review of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera. The recent research findings of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera are arranged and summaried, then these findings are briefly analyzed.Chapter 1 gives the origin of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera. The Origin of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera is investigated from two aspects including the literature research and the music comparison.Chapter 2 is the artistic characteristics of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera. The characteristics of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera are described from folk custom in the northern part of Henan Province, music, performance and aesthetic aspects.Chapter 3 presents current situation and development of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera. The performaning market of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera has shrunk, while Yu Opera, his contemporary drama, has been rapidly growing currently. The development of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera are sought through the comparison of them.Epilogue ends this thesis with a prospect. The shortcomings of this paper and blank spots of research are pointed out, which may provide reference for the research in the future.The origin, features and development of the Henan-Dapingdiao opera are discussed with research methods of comparative study and field investigation, based on the records in literature of the history of Chinese opera, local history and opera literature in the northern part of Henan Province. Significance of the research is to break through the limitations of previous research literature of Henan-Dapingdiao opera and to reappear the origin, development and regional characteristics of Henan-Dapingdiao opera more comprehensively and more objectively.
