The purpose of this thesis is exploring culture difference behind the images of hero, by analysis different images of hero from the Chinese novel An Unnamed Hill Got a Name and American novel Pork Chop Hill. This thesis paper will use the Imagology and Parallel Comparison of Comparative Literature to analyze the different images from two novels and study the causes of these different types of heroes' emergence. Difference politics, history and culture between China and America affect the construction of these different images.This thesis paper is divided into three parts. The first part is introduction, which consists of the research purpose and significance, briefly reviews, and the structure of this thesis paper. The second part is "Different Types of the Images". This part focuses on the images of hero from Chinese novel An Unnamed Hill Got a Name and American novel Pork Chop Hill. Chinese image of hero can summary as the image of collectivism hero, perfect hero, and rational hero; and American images of hero can interpret as individualism hero, incomplete hero and emotional hero. The third part is "Background of Politics, Culture and Construction of Different Images of Hero". Different politics, history and culture between China and America affect the construction of different images of hero. Chinese hero becomes revolutionary hero under the influence of Confucian culture; while American hero becomes the hero under the influence of individualism. The last part is Conclusion, it summarizes the whole paper.This thesis paper analyzes the different images of hero from China and U.S, and different heroism of them. By comparison, we can aware the different hero warship of Chinese author Lao She and American author Marshall. At the same time, these heroes inherits different concept of heroism. Chinese hero inherits Collectivism, while American hero inherits Individualism. By the comparison and analysis, people can review the heroism.
