Disjunctive complex sentence is a kind of complex sentences which is difficult to grasp among all the complex sentences, therefore its nesting ability seems to be more complicated. We try to do some systematic investigation and analysis to the nesting rules of concessive complex sentences, summarize its nesting rules, and discuss the factors which influence its nesting abilities. It is hoped to be helpful to modern Chinese grammar study and teaching Chinese as a foreign language. This paper could be divided into the following several parts.Introduction. Research objects and research status. In this section, the classification of all the complex sentences is reviewed. The concessive complex sentence which is the research object is defined in this section. The basis of the concessive complex sentence is analyzed in order to study its nesting ability.First, The association of the complex sentence and its inner sentence. According to the location of nesting content of the complex sentence, all the complex sentences are divided into 3 types. Front nesting; rear nesting; and both front and rear nesting. According to the nesting content, the complex sentences are divided 2 types. The first type of the complex sentences has a pair of associated words; the other type of the complex sentence just has one associated word.Second, the nesting mode of the concessive complex sentence, all the front nesting; rear nesting; and both front and rear nesting are discussed in this section to find out the general rules of nesting.Third, the factors which influence its nesting abilities. The order of the clauses; associated words; the semantic effect; Cognitive psychology and tone types.Forth, epilogue. Review and summarized the main contents of this paper, outlook the future of the research of the nesting of the modern Chinese.
