Late Gandhara style of art is most popular in northern Afghanistan, and it can be seen as a result of the early Gandhara art to the wider dissemination of the Central Asian region, so it is bound into a number of Central Asia, such as the original local characteristics of Persian, Greek, India and the grassland culture, which makes a feature of early neoclassical style has changed a lot. The material of statues also changed into gunch instead of the stone, resulting in a lot of plaster statue. Moreover, with large caves of chiseling, statue with small-scale from the early classical realism of the Hellenistic style became the mysterious Oriental-style giant Kapisa Buddha statues. The cave art and mural art were integrated into local people's aesthetic preferences, showing a unique artistic style of the late Gandhara. With the opening of the Silk Road and Buddhism spread eastward, late Gandhara art also affected China's Xinjiang and Dunhuang Buddhist art, Buddhist art in the history of the development occupied an important position. This paper mainly discusses the evolution of the late Gandhara style, the art characteristics and the cultural significance.
