In translation studies, one of the fundamental questions is how to define the translator's role. Up to now, the translation theorists have never come to a unanimous conclusion as to the translator's position in translation. In traditional translation theories, the translator is defined as the"servant", and translation is regarded as the transfer on the language level. What is more, translation study is equated to the two questions of"how to translate"and"how to translate well"and the translator is regarded as the skilled worker of language transference. Therefore, the translator's subjectivity and creativity are completely ignored. However, postmodernism, whose representative is deconstruction, endows the translator with the unprecedented subjectivity and creativity. There have been few theses that analyze the reasonability of the rise of the translator's subjectivity through finding out the relationship between Derrida's and Benjamin's translation thoughts. This thesis will focus on this aspect, and try to analyze the reasonability of the rise of the translator's subjectivity, starting from Derrida's"Différance"and Benjamin's"View of Language". This thesis, from the perspective of Derrida's and Benjamin's translation thoughts, defines the concept of translator's subjectivity in translation, analyzes the reasonability of the rise of the translator's subjectivity, meanwhile, this thesis analyzes the demonstration and advantage of the translator's subjectivity in translation practice, taking Fu Donghua's translation of Gone with the Wind as a special reference.
