The Translation And Influence Of H.G. Wells In China

The British writer H.G. Wells has been called the Shakespeare of science fiction. At the beginning, Wells has not attracted researcher interest. With the passage of time and development of the times, people come to realize that by studying Wells, we can further understand the common problems encountered by human beings. Since the 1960s, Wells was receiving increasing academic attention. At present, the academic studies of Wells focus on two aspects in China. On one hand, his novel concepts were discussed, on the other hand, his novel texts were analyzed. But no one involved in the study of the translation, communication, acceptance and influence of Wells in China. This paper intends to sort and explore these issues on the basis of positivism .This paper consists of four parts:Introduction: Introduce Wells from several aspects, analyze the researches of Wells at home and abroad, summarize shortcomings and deficiencies of the domestic study of Wells, led to this study.Part one: This part sorts and analyzes the translation and dissemination of Wells in China. Since 1915, the translation and dissemination of Wells in China roughly gone through three stages: from the early 20th century to the liberation, after the founding of socialist country to the reform and opening up, after the reform and opening up to the early 21st century. Due to the impact of current situation and social political ideology, at different times, the translation of Wells showed different characteristics.Part two: Mainly focuses on the acceptance and impact situation of the historiography theory, political ideology and literature of Wells in China. In the historical academia, because of the same view of history, Wells has been recognized by Liang Qi chao, He Zhao wu and other people. At the same time, he has been refuted by some researchers. In the political outlook, his bourgeois social reform ideas have been endorsed by Xu Zhi mo. When China in internal and external time in 1930s, Wells's idea that eliminated war and built peace, universal brotherhood county catered to the people who aspired the stable life. However, in the period after the founding of the class struggle, his political views have been criticized. In the literature, the heat of the domestic study of Wells has increased steadily. Wells's achievements have been recognized by some commentators. In the science fiction world, he created the time travel and extraterrestrial novel themes had a certain influence on some science fiction writers of China, for example, Jin Tao, Wu Bo ze, Xu Jin long and other people.Conclusion: From 1915 to present, there is nearly a hundred years of the translation, dissemination and influence of Wells in China .In the process, people have increased interest in Wells rather than decreased, which highlights the charm of Wells. Wells is unique in that he is more than one habitat writer. He sets a politician, sociologist, historian and writer on one. Because of his multi-identity, his works are distinctive. His lofty station and great penetrating power of thought, he has eternal value in human memory.
