The invention of well is closely related to human society development and it is one of the manifestations of human nature transformations. Chinese Taihu Lake Basin is an important origin of the early wells. From six thousand years ago Majiabang Culture to the Xia and Shang Dynasties, the early wells in Taihu Lake Basin were distributed densely, had completed shapes, and the continuation of the wells never stopped. In this way, wells of Taihu Lake Basin is the most representative areas to early wells studying. This paper is based on the previous studies and it is integrated on previously published archaeological data. The main part of this paper is Archaeological excavation, and the thesis is a combing system analyses of the early wells in Taihu Lake Basin. This paper classifies the early wells in Taihu Lake Basin on the method of archaeological typology. After the analysis of the evolution of the wells, the article uses the comparative analysis method to differ this type of wells from earlier time wells in the surrounding areas. Through the study of the early well shape, unearthed relics, and regional distribution, the thesis has explored the well function, and the relationship between well and social connotation. In this way, we can get a more comprehensive understanding of the Chinese system of early wells.This paper is based on the author’s work experience in Guang Fulin NSD Zone IV area remains Songjiang, Shanghai,2014. The author has explored the remains of wells and collected data. Several wells of Eastern Zhou Dynasty found in Guang Fulin site has standard shapes, clear instructure, abundant relics. The writer participated in excavation of wells and data collation, put theory into practice and finally got a preliminarily study of the early wells in Taihu Lake Basin.
