The research of computer-assisted foreign language teaching is one of the most popular studies at domestic and abroad in recent years.The application of CALT to the teaching of English writing can not only display the teaching contents with flexible, multi-angled way, but also make the boring and abstract knowledge become the vivid image. What's more, this approach can enhance the students'understanding of knowledge, and is a convenient instruction for teachers. However, most of the previous studies on computer-assisted teaching took university students as the subjects. Few researches are focused on computer-assisted English teaching on vocational college students, especially the English writing teaching. This thesis attempts to explore the effects of applying CALT in English writing classes on three aspects:the students' writing motivation, writing strategies and writing proficiency.This study uses the qualitative and quantitative research methods.It has data collections from several ways including classroom observation records, oral interviews, questionnaires, and students'compositions.This thesis includes five parts, including the introduction, the main body and the conclusion.Chapter One describes the research background, research purposes, the importance of research and the research framework of this topic. Due to the fixed mode and boring content of traditional writing teaching in higher vocational college, the learning emotion of students is not high. So it is important to use CALT in writing classesThe literature review in Chapter Two expatiates in the definition of CALT, the domestic and international developments in computer-assisted teaching, the empirical research on computer-assisted teaching at home and aboard. Along with the theoretical basis---Motivation and Learning Strategies, it also introduces the nature and teaching characteristics of vocational education.The third chapter is an introduction to the experiment carried out in the study. It describes the application of computer-assisted teaching methods in vocational English writing teaching. The experiment includes the experimental purpose, experimental object, experimental assumptions and experimental design. In the process of the study, the author made research on CALT from three aspects-learning motivation, learning strategies and effect of learning, and found its changes in the experiment.Chapter Four analyzes the experimental results from three aspects:writing motivation, writing strategy and writing effects. Through the questionnaires and tests before and after using CALT, SPSS was used to analyze the results in three aspects. The findings were that the writing motivation was intensified, the writing strategies were improved, and the writing proficiency was enhanced.Chapter Five is the conclusion, which briefly summarizes the implications and limitations of this study.
