The Reconstruction Of The Archives Of The Kennel Men Of Ur-â…¢ Dynasty ((?) 43 I-IS 5 Vii)

A large animal tribute center by the name of the Office of Puzri?-Dagan, which is now the Drehem site in Iraq, was built by the second term king ?ulgi of Ur III dynasty at his 38th year's dominance. The reason for establishing this animal center was that the Ur III dynasty royal family, court officials, the governors and nobles of the cities needed an office to manage their animal sacrifices, which were frequently offered to the deities in Nippur, Uruk and Ur. Simultaneously the palace and the officials of the royal court as well as the soldier also needed the massive domestic animals as foods. The receiving and withdrawals of the large amount of animals required the special accounting office.é-Puzri?-Dagan, which was near to the religious center of Nippur and Tummal, therefore was elected as the place of the Royal Animal Center. The Office of Puzri?-Dagan was the famous animal managing center in ancient Mesopotamia, also it occupied a very important place in the economy of Ur III dynasty.The work in this paper is to reconstruct the archives of kennel men of Ur-III dynasty, including 100 ofé-Puzuri?-Dagan and 93 of Girsu. We can divide the archieves ofé-Puzuri?-Dagan to three parts : first ."period of ?ul-gi". There is a very important kennel man named I-lum-bani, and the most of archives of this period are about him (Ur-ni9-gar occurred for only one time).Second,"period of Amar-Sin~?u-Sin". Every kennel man has his supervisor called"ugula"at this time, and the general in different cities always as the surpervisor, and every general can have 2 kennel men or more. Third,"period of Ib-Sin". When this dynasty begin, the economic files are not so many anymore, and appeard a new profession named"captain of dogs (nu-bànda ur-gir15)". Also, we have some research about"messenger files"in Girsu.This thesis has two parts: the first portion including the founding and meaning of the tribute animal center, to summarize and analyze the job content and workmates of the kennel men in different periods ; the second portion is to translate the archives in to English and Chinese according to the time sequencing of archieves.
