| According to the statistics released by CSM Media Research of CCTV, the average time that Chinese children aged between 4 and 14 spend on watching TV series per year reached as high as 6154 minutes in 2005, lagging far behind other forms of programme and media.As one of the TV series type research, this paper was organized on the basis of "Children-oriented" theory, presenting the development of contemporary TV series for Chinese children and illustrating the status quo as well as problems of contemporary TV series for Chinese children, Furthermore, the author also avtively made some investigations and research, analysed creative characteristics by studying some outstanding cases.Thus, the author could research briefly on the development trend of domestic TV series for children and provide playwrights with theoretical foundations.Children are belonging to both one of the most plastic parts in society and a special group.They are extensively curious and behaviorally imitative due to their unfixed mature philosophy of life and values.The childhood is really a unique life period in that the children would grow up healthly, at the same time, the society could be harmonious and stable if the kids got beneficial intructions from watching TV series.However, the crucial problem to the TV people is how to make the TV series for children find their own oyster and establish a distinctive spiritual world for young citizens in the situation of entertainment diversity and fierce competition in media field.TV series for children is a particular kind of TV series, which its particularity emphasizes on the problem that both of the planners and writers are adults, neverthelss the target audience are children.This special point has made the TV series for children are not only dependent on adults'world but also needed to be created by catering the kids'fancies.For example, some TV series are criticized "too naive" by parents and" unable to understand" by young people in response to the inefficiently dealt relations. The reasons why it is happened are the conventional creation, decline of ratings, not enough advertisements which lead to the vicious circle in the production of TV series for children.When confronted with such issues, the author realized that it's out of date to observe the youngers'world through the adults'perspectives and it's useless estimating kids'interests without any inference.Only do the playwrights make investigations and researches by penetrating into the children's lives can they creat the works really belong to the children.After nearly half year's investigation and research, which began at the receiving condition of TV program for children and emphasized on the choosing habits, chosen program characteristics, influence and program assessment when kids watching TV programs.Therefore the author has made some following revelations by gathering statistics,analysing observation results.The TV series for children are needed in markets, but they should be updated from perspectives, took steps in creation. Firstly, target audience should be fixed acurately. Secondly, how children to think, to express and to estimate are necessary to be analysed.Thirdly, TV series should be children-oriented and perfect themselves during the production. Fourthly, more efforts should be put into the market for operating and seeking sustainable development. Last but absolutely not the least, playwrights of TV series for children ought to learn some children-related education philosophy and theory and creat outstanding works which are attractive, educational as well as suitable to one's grown-up experience due to a high sense of responsibility.As with the development of ecomony, technology, children's demands, TV series for Chinese children are marching along the trend of "the combination of reality and imagination, the combination of tradition and creation, the combination of entertainment and intelligence encouragement, and the combination of program watching and evaluation." The author believes that TV series for Chinese children would be higher and stronger with the help of the TV people's hard work and support from different demestic fields.
