Dilthey's Concept Of Lived Experience And Hermeneutics

We will meet such concept as lived experience(Erlebnis) when we read the work of Dilthey,and it is a very important concept in Dilthey's theory of poetry.This thesis want to explicate the meaning of lived experience and the signification of lived experience in Dilthey's theory.The text divides into three chapters.The first chapter:from Phantasie to Einbildungskraft, a historical sketch of pre-Erlebnis concepts.Firstly I give a historical description of Phantasie from Plato to Augustine. I found that the meaning of Phantasie in Augustine changes a lot. This sort of change makes us understand that why in the Aesthetic of idealism people can use Einbildung and Einbildungskraft.The second chapter:Dilthey's psychology.In this partâ… point out that Dilthey's psychology can not be understand by words meaning, it has its root in empiricism but it can not be confused with it. Dilthey concerns about mind and spirit in his psychology, which belong to idealism, and through a discussion about Erlebnis and Einbildung, we point out that they mean almost the same psychical process in Dilthey. However, behind these two concepts are other important words like nature, mind, spirit, the connection of them tell us the possibility of understanding the Turn of Dilthey from psychology to hermeneutics.The third chapter:From psychology to hermeneuticsIn this partâ… discuss the Turn of Dilthey' theory. I would like to give an explanation of it and make the Turn understandable.
