On Human Nature By Yin-Yang

Dong Zhong-shu's theory of human nature has a profound influence in the history of Ancient Chinese philosophy.In pre-Qin, ophes concerned with the goodness or evil of human nature,they believed that the goodness or evil of human nature comes from Tian,but they did not demonstrate how Tian endow people with human nature. On one hand,Dong Zhong-shu absorb and inherited the excellent achievements of the theory of human nature in pre-Qin,such as:the goodness and evil of human nature comes from Tian;the theory of Yin-Yang and five elements;the throry of "the induction between human and tian",and so on.On the other hand,he combined these achievements with his theory of "the relation of Tian and human",make a new ideal of human nature:what is the relation betweet Yin-Yang and the goodness or evil of human nature?How does the basic stuff of goodness transform to the actual goodness? Dong Zhong-shu regarded Yin-Yang as the material medium through which Tian gives human nature to people,made a new way of'on human nature by Yin-Yang".
