Study On The Theories Of Moral Politics Of Dong Zhongshu

Dong Zhongshu was a great Confucianist in Han Dynasty. He proposed the moral political thought based on the social reality of Han Dynasty and the Confucian tradition of moral politics. It main points included three aspects: attention to the ethics, people foremost and exclusive dedication to Confucianism. It had three methods to implement the moral politics, which including admonish monarch, moralize to the people and rule of morality with its priority to penalty. The philosophy of the heaven was the basis of moral politics. He demonstrated it with the way of "Fengtian and Fagu" . Then ,he formed a complete system. Dong Zhongshu's philosophy can be said to be the philosophy of heaven. "Fengtian"was the mean of that the heaven was the faith ontology of people. "Regarding the heaven as the greateat". "Heaven complied with the laws as the master of all things". "Heaven was the ancestor of all things". "Heaven is the eldest child of God". His reasonable basis of reality ordered the final heaven in accordance with retrospective. "Heaven is the source of Dao". "Saint based on the law of heaven to establish the Dao". Dong Zhongshu thought that Tiandao was the basis for Rendao. "Only Rendao can refer to the heaven". Tiandao served Rendao , and finally served the governance of king. "Fagu"was to learn from history, and used the success or failure rule of kings in history to prove the reasonableness of the current rule. Dong Zhongshu believed that "The ancient world is the current world, the current world is the ancient world, they are the same world". Ancient and today's world is the same world. So, he focused on the ancient rule of king.I research the Dong Zhongshu's moral political from the perspective of political philosophy. Based on his theory of human nature, he infused Confucian ethics into the hearts of the people through the education of the people. Thus, he can achieve the ideal of the rule of virtue. I think Dong Zhongshu's moral political is a political philosophy of ethics, because Dong Zhongshu's moral political is based on Confucian ethics. He used the philosophy of the heaven as the basis, and developed the moral politics of Confucianism, thus forming a Confucian ethical value as the standard of the moral politics.
