On the basis of the Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) model proposed by Malcolm Williams, this study applies such parameters as argument schema, argument types, conjunctives, propositional functions, narrative strategy, figures of speech and language quality in a non-quantitative approach to analyze the three translations of Universal Love in Chapter 16 of the book Mozi, translated respectively by Mei Yibao, Burton Watson and Wang Rongpei & Wang Hong. In this thesis, the three translations are studied comparatively; the errors are analyzed and categorized according to their influence on various micro and macro text functions; and on the basis of such categorization, the thesis gives recommendations for further refinement of Malcolm Williams'TQA model.
