On the basis of abundant traditional philosophical aesthetics, Qian Zhongshu creatively put forward his distinctive translation theory of"huajing"through his massive and long-term translation practice by critically inheriting the essence of the traditional Chinese literary theories and translation theories. This thesis explores the rich connotation of"huajing"from Zhuang Zi's point of view on aesthetics, the source of Chinese traditional aesthetics. It can be found that there are striking similarities among these flashing"fragments"in the long history. After making a summery of Qian Zhongshu's translation thought, practice and previous research done by previous learners, the author will illustrate the combination of"huajing"theory and Zhuang Zi aesthetics. And then, the connotation of"huajing"theory such as the hazy beauty, rich content and the perfect translation method of"following his own inclination without exceeding the established rules"will be explored from such three aspects as the words, the meaning and the practice. As we all know,"huajing"theory is a precious fragment, which has attracted so much attention in the field. So, the author will firstly illustrate the unspeakable nature of"huajing"theory from Zhuang Zi's view on aesthetics. And then, the connotation of"huajing"translation theory will be discussed. The author will discuss the three contradictions occurring in the process of translation such as"meaning and words,""errors and hua"and"the source language and the target language"from the aspects of"catching meaning while forgetting words,""harmony of'errors'and'hua''"and"wandering between TL& SL". It will be made clear that Mr. Qian's translation thought is not only full of hazy beauty but also rich in connotation. Mr. Qian did not take dualistic way of thinking, but search for the balance and proper coordination between such conflicts as"media","guidance","errors"and"hua". He made a great achievement in the realization of"huajing"through"wandering between TL& SL". At last, the necessary conditions for attainment of"huajing"will be discussed and his translation arts will also be appreciated through his classical translation examples. On the basis of the above discussion, we can easily get the following conclusion: although Mr. Qian's thought seemed like unsystematic fragments, they were really precious; he formed a new way of thinking that broke the binary oppositions; from his translation thought, we can also get clear that"huajing"theory can be achieved through long term and massive practice.
