This article viewes economic and trade exchanges between Burma, which belonged the colony of British, and Yunnan as the research object. It explores the contents and characteristics of economic and trade exchanges between those two regions by using points and methods of historical materialism. At the same time, it explains that there is a mutual influence between those two regions.This text is divided into four parts:The first chapter is briefly reviewed and summarized traditional economic and trade exchanges and characteristics between Burma and Yunnan, pointing out that the traditional economic and trade exchanges were friendly. It took an important role on both economic and social development .Chapter II focuses on the situation of economic and trade exchanges between Burma and Yunnan. After Burma was colonized by British, the traditional trade between Burma and Yunnan has become into the capitalist world market system, at the same time, the trade nature, trade partner, trade area and trade purpose between them have changed tremendously.The third chapter focuses on the impact on economic and trade exchanges between Burma and Yunnan. It points out the impact on both sides of social and economic developments under the control of colonial forces, revealing the nature of aggression and the real reasons of colonial forces as historical unconscious tool in the process of economic and social modernization.Chapter IV summarizes characteristics of economic and trade exchanges between British Burma and Yunnan from four aspects and then obtains a preliminary understanding and a brief conclusion of this research project.
