Rhetoric Study Of Current News English In Publications

Modern rhetoric study has developed from its narrow sense to broad sense today. The study of broad rhetoric focuses on how the human communication is conducted by a series of symbols. Actually everything around us is symbolized, expressed and defined with rhetoric in such a way that the world created by our hands is full of colorful symbols and human life is becoming more and more wonderful. As Kenneth Burke pointed out that the purposes of broad rhetoric study not only lie in how one work transforms information powerfully and effectively and communicate profoundly, but that how the artistic designs of one work are able to awaken listeners or readers'feelings so as to form and change their attitudes, and also stimulate their actions.In this thesis, based on the macroscopic theory of rhetoric, the author makes a deep research about the unique features of current news English in publications. Now the current news English in publications plays an important role in the informational and media-controlled society. Knowing about and mastering the features is a noticeable way to improve English learning, as well as English teaching. The author reveals the rhetoric characteristics in four perspectives:headlines and styles, genres and background information. Through the research, the author aims to help readers realize that rhetoric essence is not only limited in language study, but is to fulfill its final purposes in various available ways. The thesis intends to tell readers that publications are not only information carriers but also special artworks filled with brilliant rhetoric ways which will make a positive influence on man's life style.
