5-8-year-old Children's Understanding Of Emotion In The Desire-rule Conflict Situation

Little children can understand the connection between desires and emotions. Children may experience mixed emotions, because they must study rules which is common in our daily life. Researchers have found that, children can experience emotions from simple to mixture as growing, so do the explanations. The goal of current research is to investigate how the change of predict and explanation though the desires and rules. The research is divided into two sections:The first section is to investigate the connection of desire and emotion in the simple situation. The second section is to investigate the connection of desire and emotion in the desire-rule conflict situation.The results are as follows:1. In the Simple-desire stories, more than 50% of the 5-to 8 year-old children provided matching emotions, and this result has no significant difference between ages and genders;2. In the Simple-desire stories, all of the whole children have no mixture emotion, and have only one explanation which is goal oriented;3. In the desire-rule conflict stories, the quantity of mixed emotion that 5-8-old children provided is increasing through the children's growing, no matter is he or myself;4. In the desire-rule conflict stories, the quantity of the explanations of the whole 5-8-old children, Goal-riented explanations the most, Rule-oriented the next, Future-oriented the last; moreover, the younger provide more goal-riented explantions, the older privode more rule-oriented explanations and more future-oriented explantions;5. In the desire-rule conflict stories, willpower can lead to rule-riented explanation;6. In the desire-rule conflict stories,5-8-old children provide more future-riented explanations to himselves.
