Correlation Between Anger And Motivational Orientation

Anger is one of the basic emotions in people's daily life, it has complex correlation with individual motivational orientation. The main purpose of present study was to investigate the correlation of anger and motivational orientation on trait and behavior level. The study was divided into two sub-studies as follows:study 1 investigated 264 undergraduate to inspect the correlation of trait anger,anger expression,general behavior tendencies and achivement motivation using questionnaires;study 2 adopted 2(trait anger level high, low)*2(experiment condition anger inducing, neutral)*2(task type approach task, avoidance task) three factorial mixed design, and induced anger in laboratory, by comparing differences of reaction time in different conditions to inspect the correlation between anger and motivational orientation.The findings are as following:1. the structure of approach motivation accorded with general behavior tendency,that is ,approach-success motivation corresponds to approach tendency,and avoidance-failure motivation corresponds to avoidance tendency;2. inducing anger can activate one's behavioral approach system,and the average activating level of high trait anger group was much higher;3. on trait level, trait anger correlated positively with both BAS and BIS, on behavior level, anger was a kind of emotion associated with approach motivation.
