It nearly has been thousand years since traditional ink performance was created. As an original way to express and reflect development outlook of our time, meanwhile bearing more profound meanings, it has an unprecedentedly prosperous development in open and dynamic present time environment. The conclusion is drawn in this article about contemporary value of ink performance.The article is divided into four parts. The thematic feature of ink performance is introduced in the first part, of which the contemporary value of ink performance lies in its popularity and reproducibility. The technique characteristics, which are based on the tradition but have innovation, are included in the second part. It is the exploration and innovation many artists work on that show contemporary value of ink performance. The expansion of ink performance in painting materials are embraced in the third part, the reason of which is that painting materials become various as society is changing, especially different synthesized materials bring novel visual experience to the audience when they are applied into works. The visual aesthetic experiences of ink performance, which live up to contemporary audiences, are declared in the last part. People of this time establish their aesthetic on the ground of peculiar experience of this time meanwhile influenced by appreciation idea of ancient painting. Ink is given flavor of contemporary people not only because it satisfies their aesthetic demand but also it conforms to assessment criterion from ancient aesthetic idea of painting .As a whole, the exploration on the contemporary value of ink performance is endless and greater and more efforts are needed to make so that it is expected to take on an altogether new aspect.
