The Artistic Language's Evolution Of Chinese Lacquer Painting

The art of lacquer painting in China has a long history and it has been developing and evolving constantly. The modern lacquer painting emerges from the traditional lacquer craftwork, and becomes a new painting art form combined with the modern techniques and materials. It has not only the national imagery but also the characteristics of the times. Lacquer painting touches us with its particular attraction.Lacquer painting is one of the artistic expressions in today's Chinese Arts Circle. It forms its particular characteristics and becomes very attractive with its variable techniques, special expressions and materials. Compared with other painting arts, lacquer painting is much younger and immature in both theory and practice. There still are some issues to study and solve. This paper starts with the introduction of Chinese lacquer art's history, then it gives a detailed description about the engender of Chinese modern lacquer paining, compares the modern lacquer paintings in different periods and analyses the materials ,painting and techniques of modern lacquer painting. In this paper, I also analyses the creative ideas and theories of lacquer painting, and points out we should pay more attention to its theory construction.This paper analyses the creative ideas and academic theories in the aspect of the evolving course of Chinese modern lacquer painting and gives a systemic and comprehensive conclusion of its present situation. The whole paper consists of seven chapters. Chapter 1 gives an introduction about the paper. Chapter 2 presents the lacquer art's prosperity and adversity in ancient China, and points out that Chinese lacquer art should not cling to the old ideas but keep up with the times. Chapter 3 describes the bud period of Chinese lacquer painting. By researching the modern lacquer movement, this paper analyses the inherent limitation of Chinese lacquer painting and its influence on the future development. And this marks the beginning of Chinese lacquer painting. Chapter 4 discusses the explosion period, and by comparing the different development courses between Chinese modern lacquer painting and Vietnamese lacquer picture, this chapter studies their differences and similarities and it also explains the influence of European and Japanese lacquer painting movements on Chinese lacquer painting. Chapter 5 is about the development period of Chinese lacquer painting, and describes the evolution of its creative ideas and academic theory in detail. Chapter 6 demonstrates the artistic language of its forms, materials, and art by analyzing the various creative ideas, and it has the realistic directing meaning. Chapter 7 shows the great confidence in the development of Chinese modern lacquer painting and points out it has great cultural value and great development potential.
