| The Eastern Jin's metaphysics-poetry appears in the third or fourth centuries AD, the Western Jin Dynasty. Those poems express Xuan in a metaphysical way. The Metaphysical Poetry with a unique style appears in the 16th century and reaches its peak in the first half of the 17th century in Britain. The Eastern Jin's metaphysics-poetry is a rather special type of poetry writing in the history of Chinese literature's development, but for a long time, it is basically being neglected and completely negated. By the 80s of the 20th century, this situation began to change, and the academic circles analyzed the various aspects of it and affirm its value. The Metaphysical Poetry was thought of having weird metaphor, obscure, too pedantic and speculative by people at that time. But the New Criticism in the 20th century values the Metaphysical Poetry very much and regards it as the best of English poetry. It is spoken of the perfect combination of thoughts and feelings, showing rich imagination and artistic originality. The Metaphysical Poetry and the Eastern Jin's metaphysics-poetry are known as the "mysterious" Poetry. They are similar in their history backgrounds and artistic styles, but at the same time, the understanding and interpretation of "mystery" in China and Western culture are different. As the development of the study of literary history, "mysterious" poetry has gradually been taken seriously. The reason that the author chose this topic is based on this:two schools lack attention and study in the history of each nation, but their impact on later literature can not be underestimated. What do the ups and downs of the two literary schools reflect? What is the reason? Whether their common experiences imply the same or similar problems with a sort of regularity? Whether they have the charm of certain commonalities? So the author would like to try to put them into the perspective of comparative literature and highlight their common aesthetic value and their respective uniqueness. In this case, the author hopes this comparative study can provide inspiration for the poetry of Britain and China. This paper is divided into three parts.The first part mainly introduces the research background, research status, research ideas and makes a definition of The Eastern Jin's metaphysics-poetry and The Metaphysical Poetry.The second part consists of three chapters. The first chapter analyzes the similarity in creative background of the two schools. The prevalence of metaphysical theory in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and reasoning in the literary tradition cause the Eastern Jin's metaphysics-poetry. The social and cultural environment in England in the 17th-century and the law of literary development are the main causes of the appearance of the Metaphysical Poetry. The two can be described as the product of complex era and the law of literary development.The second chapter is the close-reading of the text, that is, a specific analysis and comparison of poetry method. It consists of obscure language, the use of imagery and the expressive technique of poetry.The third chapter analyzes their literary value and status in literary history. Section one illustrates their literary value:the awakening of individual consciousness; the spiritual expression. Section two discusses the rationality of their existence as well as the impact on later literature.The last part is the conclusion. Through the comparative study of the Eastern Jin's metaphysics-poetry and the Metaphysical Poetry, one can see "Mystery" in the West is mainly reflected in the expression way, while the latter is focusing on the inner expression "the unfathomably deep principle of the Way". Their similar fate is revealed to us to think about:the generation and development of a literary genre is based on the inheritance and creative development of tradition.The author hopes that the comparative study of the East Jin's metaphysics-poetry and the Metaphysical Poetry serve to provide some food for the development of modern poetry.
