Compared with the Tang culture, the culture of the Northern Song Dynasty appears to be closed, introverted. However, during the Northern Song Dynasty, calligraphy criticism is an exception. It was neither closed nor introverted, but was an unprecedented spirit of innovation in the Northern Song Dynasty calligraphy had been injected new blood, and the Northern Song Dynasty calligraphy was reborn into prosperity. This innovative spirit seemed unthinkable, but also incomprehensible, it was a completely arrogant deviant act, and it was the arrogant act that determines the Northern Song dynasty calligraphy and its unique artistic status in the history of calligraphy.This paper mainly includes three parts:The first part is the analysis of social and cultural background of the Northern Song Dynasty, through which more about Bei Song calligraphy and its present situation can be understood, and also more morphemes about Bei Song culture can be recognized.The second part mainly talks about the calligraphy critics Ou Yangxiu,Su Shi, Huang Tingjian and Mi Fu, the innovators, and their of the main innovations Calligraphy from the critics, Ouyang Xiu, Su Shi, Huang Ting-jian, and Mi Fu, the innovators, and their criticism on calligraphy ,through which can analyze the building of their criticism and their impacts on that time.The third part list systematically the criticisms of the innovators, from which the features is analyzed, and the relationships between Bei Song Calligraphy and calligraphy criticisms can be firmly kown.
