Chinese oil painting grew up in the 1990s which all trends and concepts of arts coexisted. It undergone the baptism of commercialism and culture recollection which accompanied by the economic development in 1990s. As individual artist, they started feeling the temptation and stimulation from the outside, and began to gradually sharpen their mature approach to the language of the feedback of information and expression. Because the individual background, life experiences, personality and different artistic focus, their artistic language and style show a wide range of trends.This research firstly reviewed the developing process of Chinese oil painting. The special international and domestic political environments provide a treasure-house of resource.Secondly, it explored the development of Chinese oil painting in 1980s. After the Cultural Revolution, a lot of artists experiences in "the Scars of Fine Arts" and "1985 Idea Trend". The younger generation of artists always unconsciously takes the former generation as a reference to develop and even search for break through. The Chinese oil painting started a completely new historic stage which the group conscious gradually dispelled and individual conscious awakened and replaced. The style of Chinese oil painting also became diversified.Thirdly, the research explored the important developing period for the diversification of Chinese oil painting in the 1990s. In this period, the group conscious died and individuality language was emphasized, which stimulated the diversification and development of Chinese oil painting.Fourthly, it explored the thoughts of arts and style features of Chinese contemporary oil painting by ten groups of case study.Finally, it raised some questions about the diversification of Chinese oil painting.
