In Southeast Asian Studies, the ethnic Chinese politics in Malaysia is a crucial area of research. From the viewpoint of the partisan politics, the thesis makes a deep study of Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), the biggest Chinese party in Malaysia. It is hoped that this study can help to wholly understand Chinese politics in Malaysia in a new way. The body of the thesis is made up of three parts. Part one: A brief history of MCA. Part tow: An internal analysis of MCA, such as MCA抯 organization, member participation, reconciliation and the development of ideology. Part three: An external analysis of MCA, such as the restriction of Malaysian political system on the Chinese parties, the relationship between MCA and UMNO and the relationship between MCA and the Chinese community.
