China ho1ds very rich oceanic resources in the world, with the seaarea of 3. 547 mi1l ion km2. 0ceanic resources can provide lots of oceani cfoods with rich nutrients. Therefore, it is very necessary andimportant to study the bio--economic theory and productive capabi 1 ityof the oceanic fishery resources in China. This thesis is supported by the Nationa1 Ninth Pive--Year PriorityProject--"The Research of Land ProductiYity and Human C8rrying inChina (ocean section) ". The core of this thesis is the bio--economictheory of oceanic fishery and the projection of the productivecapabi1ity of fishery resources, which wi11 sense the policy makingand suggest measures of the sustainable development for oceanic fisheryin China. At first, this thesis explains the present situation of appl icationof bio--economic theory in international and domestic as well as thetheory and method adopted in this thesis, then analyzes oceanicresources at three leve1s and explains the advantages and conditionof the oceanic fishing and aquiculture in China. The over--fishing hasalready been a popular problem in the use of oceanic resources in Chinaand has negatively influenced the sustainab1e development of oceanicfishing industry. This study elaborates the development of oceanicfishing in the past 20 years and the present prob1ems. At the s8me time, thi s thesi s analyzes the current situation of oceanic aquiculture ofChina, which will be the direction of future oceanic fishery and thefundamental outlet of oceanic 8quiculture of China. The bio--economictheory of oceanic fi shery is the theoretica1 foundation of sustainabledevelopment strategy and is the basis to keep the bio1ogical andeconomic balance for oceanic fi shery. A simulat ion mode1 is constructedto study the special bio1ogy species in the specific sea are8s, by whichto estimate sustainab1e output and optimal fishing under specificcondition and to guide the fishing production and resource management. In addition, an econometric model is constructed, using the 8tatisticdata of the past 20 years, to analyze the future productive potentialof oceanic aquicu1ture. By using the constructed model, the thesisproject the productive capabil ity of oceanic aquicu1ture from 2000 to2010, and the oce8nic fishing productivity during the same period interms of the fishing policy of "Zero--Growth". the present fisheryresource condition and the trend of far oceanic fishery. Based on theabove, the thesis came to the projection of tot8l productivity ofoceanic fishery in China in 2005 and 2010, which 8re 30 and 34. 5 mi1l iontons respective1y. Aquatic product is high qua1ity foodstuffcontaining rich protein, therefore, this study can provide referencefor the decision maker to see th8t ho' far aquatic product canfaci 1 itate in ensuring the food security in China. Lastly, the measuresand way--out for sustain8ble development of oceanic aquicu1ture, nearsea and far oce8nic fishing are suggested in the thesis.
