The Study On The Policy And Legislation Of The Chinese Seafarers Overseas Employment

The integration of the world economy has generated great impacts on the worldwide trade, and as well as the international shipping industry. As a part of the trade in service, international shipping industry replies on the development of the international trade and the world economy.Since 1980s, the international shipping market has changed greatly, particularly the supply and demand of seafarers. This change has provided an opportunity for Chinese seafarers to enter into the international maritime labor market. However the experience we have had during the past twenty years or so has indicated that China has to revise its shipping policy and perfected its legislation in seafarers overseas employment.According to the analysis of the international shipping market and the predication in the future, some suggestions have been made in Chinese shipping policy and legislation for Chinese seafarers overseas employment, and the author wishes all these suggestions will be considered by the relative government departments and surely belief that the Chinese seafarers overseas employment will be rapidly developed in the 21st century.
