Abstract/Summary:
The environment problem in international trade attracts a great deal of attention around the world in recent decades due to the economic globalization and international trade development, the conflict between the South and the North in this field turns to be fierce. This paper studies the environment problem in international trade from the point of discrepancy and conflict between the South and the North and tries to seek the best approach to solve this problem. The role of WTO to harmonize the South-North conflict is also probed.Following the introduction of the environment problem in international trade, relevant studies at home and overseas and the point of this paper, theoretical analysis of the discrepancy between the South and the North is presented. The origin of theoretic conflict is discussed through different methods, different angles are disclosed of the hotspots that different standards play a role in environment quality. The divarication on specialization of environment density products in industry structure is argued. At last, the pollution control effect on competition is studied by theoretical model. My point of view turns to empirical study of the discrepancy between the South and the North. The conflict focuses of South and North countries are concluded and their practice is demonstrated. This section also analyses the effect of environment cost on export competition and discusses the diversity in " Green the international trade" and contradiction in it.Based on above discussions, this paper puts forward possible approaches to solve South-North conflict on environment in international trade, brings forward the optimal scenario of international coordination, probes the role of WTO in dealing with such problems, its weakness and perspective are also discussed. In the end, the paper examines the environment condition of China and puts forth suggestions to meet challenge of South-North conflict on environment problem in international trade.
