SPEC--Smart Hose INC.

This thesis consists of two parts: the case and the case analysis. In the part of case, the author described the three problems facing the SPEC/SMART Hose INC., a hose safety system manufacturer, when it planned to build its new plant in Shenzhen:1. The facility layout.2. supplier management.3. The development of the MRP system.The case also described the situations in the plant in the USA, hose industry and the suppliers. Finally, the case gave an example of the MRP system. In the part of case analysis, the author analyzed the above problems and gave some solutions to them. There are three parts in this part:1. The situations are quite different between in the USA and in china, so the layout in the Shenzhen plant may be different from that in the USA, it should be designed based on the situations in china.2. The author used the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to rank the suppliers, then gave some suggestions to the development of supply chain in the future.3. The author gave some suggestions to the development of the MRP.
