Study ERP Project Management For The Medium & Small Scale Enterprise

ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) system becomes the important tool for modern enterprise operation, which is very natural just as various cars replace bicycles and wagons in the modern society. General method for ERP project management is studied to help most medium and small scale enterprises to prevent from undertaking more risk in ERP project management, and guarantee ERP project to be successfully implemented, which is especially important for most medium and small scale enterprises who lack IT (information technology) and IS (information service) managers with ability.Through empirical study on many ERP cases, the author aims to find some effective solutions for medium and small scale enterprises to manage ERP project, and help them to avoid following the same old disastrous road.In this paper, firstly the difference and comparability of the traditional project management and ERP project management are discussed, then the application of general process and method in project management to ERP project is studied.With continuous increase of unsuccessful ERP cases and in fear of their customers and potential customers distrusting ERP, most ERP system provider and ERP consultant explain away unsuccessful ERP cases and try to provide various solutions, but these solutions are very difficult to implement or even impracticable to the majority of ERP projects, so finally the author give a detailed analysis on these solutions and find that they are almost ineffective.
