With the advent of economic globalization, rapid evolvements of information technology and facing increasingly intense competitions in the markets both at home and abroad, those Chinese enterprises engaged in foreign trading of non-ferrous metal seem to have got into a hobble. It turns out a matter of top significance in their eyes that how to enhance their core competitiveness in the international market. This article makes a quantified analysis of certain indicators to study the existing competitiveness of those Chinese enterprises engaged in foreign trading of non-ferrous metal, and further analyzes the external competitive environment and some factors influencing their own competitiveness. By use of Michael E.Porter's Value Chain based analysis method, this paper suggests these enterprises identify those links in which they have gained most prominent edges compared to rivals, optimize and integrate such links and work out corresponding countermeasures as per decisive factors influencing their competitiveness, which involves input in these regards: renovation of product and marketing mixes, optimization of its supply chain, implementation of brand-awareness oriented competition strategy, and enhancement of management of employees and customer resources, as well as reinforcement of building of corporate culture of their own, thus to push up their competitiveness as a whole.This article is divided into five parts. Part I briefs over the theoretical analysis methods corporate competitiveness, takes into account the concrete conditions of those Chinese enterprises engaged in foreign trading non-ferrous metal and analyzes their existing competitiveness; Part II elaborates those factors influencing their competitiveness relating to on-going competition situations in the world market, the accession of China into WTO, trading policies and production means of enterprises, thus to analyze the competition environment these Chinese enterprises are bearding; Part III analyzes those factors in the internal organizations of these enterprises which have a bearing on their competitiveness; Part IV discusses on those tactics helpful for enhancing the competitiveness of these enterprises; Part V puts forward some suggestions on formulation of policies, based on considerations that thegovernment is poised to offer supports to such enterprises to facilitate their developments.
