Experiences And Lessons From Korea's Urbanization Process And Its Enlightenment To Yanbian

Urbanization is not only a product of socio-economic development but also a symbol of a society's modernization. It is an inevitable trend of a country's economic development. Currently, our country's soft market and insufficient effective needs restrict its rapid development of economy. Urbanization plays an important role in solving these problems. Governments of all levels are paying great attention to promote socioeconomic development and improve people's living standard through urbanization.In accordance with general theory and rules of urbanization, this thesis analyzes both developed and developing countries' urbanization processes. Especially, it analyzes Korea's urbanization process and its characterstics, main approaches taken to speed up the process, and problems appearing in the process. Meanwhile, it also reviews Yanbian's urbanization process, industrial distribution, and major problems surfacing in the process .On the basis of the experience and lessons from Korea's urbanization process, the author suggests constructing central cities to improve urbanization quality and speeding up rural areas' urbanization process. In addition, governments of all levels should play their full role in creating a better environment to speed up Yanbian's urbanization process.
