| As a kind of special field, legal service in China is confronting challenge from abroad after joining WTO. The questions just like how to open our market, how to compete with the others, and how to perfect our legal system are becoming more and more important. The article put forward some advice about the above questions.Legal service is a part of Special Service Trade in WTO. It must be regulated by GATS, General Agreement of Trade Service. Chinese legal service is optimized only by enhancing the lawyers' abilities, improving the competences and perfecting the legal service system. At the same time, we should open our legal service market step by step.The article is begun with Chinese legal service market's status quo, secondly, points out the defects in the market and legal regulations, thirdly, deduces the WTO Rules about special service, fourthly, demonstrates the changes of legal service after joining WTO, lastly the author sums up the conclusions of this thesis. The effective measures are perfecting our market and our legal service system. For example, we had better build lawyers' liability insurance system, and operate the ISO9000 system in the law firms.The paper is expected to help legal service market to develop, and encourage legal service suppliers to join in the service trade of globalization.
