PingAn Insurance Company of China is the first insurance joint-stock company. It is also the first one which has the foreign shares. Since it was open in 1988 as a small local insurance company in Shenzhen, it has miraculously developed into the second biggest national insurance company in China. What's more, PingAn started very early to internationalize its business to be ready for the WTO, by which it was evaluated the most internationalized insurance company in China.Life insurance Business is the main competitive field after WTO. So I try to make profound analyses on China insurance market competition situations and the internal resources and competitive ability of PingAn, with the competitive strategy theory of Dr. Michael Porter and the Resource-based View. In the last part of the article some strategic suggestions to the PingAn under the new situations will be provided. My main analysis methods are: Five-Force Model, Value-chain analysis, Core competitive-ability evaluation and SWOT etc.Based on the analyses of the article we can draw the following conclusions: China life insurance market has a promising future; PingAn has the obvious advantage of its internal resource and operational structure. The major problem is how to develop quickly. By controlling the cadences of business developing and solving the internal problems during steadily developing will PingAn has a very bright future.China insurance business is in the period of fast developing when the national companies are up against the tensional competition of the foreign companies. So the experience of PingAn is undoubtedly worthy of being researched. Wish this article could be good for China insurnce industrydevelopment.
