| Japan was the first Asian capitalist state, who acted as the pioneer of accepting western advanced civilization in absorbing western culture in the states of east Asia . Decaying Ch'ing Dynasty despatched students to Japan in 1896 to linger on in a steadily worsening condition,thus,the movement of studying in Japan started. Because socialist ideological trend with Japanese characteristics is similar to Chinese traditional spirit of Creat Harmony, Chinese students studied in Japan felt that they ran into an old friend in an alien land and regretcd to meet too late.To save the nation from subjugation ,to ensure its survival and to pursue a beautiful society made Chinese students study in Japan, come to accept propagation and research of socialist ideology. Actually , Japanese socialist mode in a way controlled the thought of Chinese students studying in Japan and affected China to understand socialist and put it into practice. Thereupon the movement of studying in Japan had a unneglectful influence on the change of Chinese ideological circle, that is, the presence of socialist ideological trend.The whole thesis can be divided into three parts:1. Western Civilization Spread in Eastrthe Socialist Ideological Trend in Japan. The socialist ideology was disseminated to China by the students studied in Japan, that is to say, the ideology is the socialism understood, selected, applied and explained by the Japanese scholars. With the sharpening contradiction between Labor and capital worldwidcly, socialist ideological trend was disseminated to Japan. When Japanese socialist movement gradually became mature, widcspreaded and influenced profoundly, especially after Russion Revolution of 1917, it stepped toward scientific socialism. Peculiar international background and realistic national situation made Japan have her characteristics in understanding socialism being like criticizing capitalism, in devising future society and in the channel and motive power of reali/ing future society. The similar culture between China and Japan, especially the similarity between Japanese socialist ideological trend and Chinese traditional socialist theory , easily stimulated Chinese to response.2. Dissemination of Socialist Ideological Trend: from Japan to China.In1898, the policy of studying in Japan was established and traditional culture was annuled. Teaching personnel were short of because of the establishment of new culture, in addition, Japan was becoming a foreign base for Chinese revolution, "The history of the Chinese studying in Japan is a history of modern Chinese culture on the one side and that of modern Chinese politics on the other side, Before the Revolution of 1911 led by Dr.Sun Yat-sen, a lot of revolutionary activities had been incited in Japan."Thereupon, more and more Chinese students went to Japan to study. Those factors promoted the presence of the movement of studying in Japan. Chinese students studied in Japan researched and propagated socialism by running newspapers and magazines. Thus, they promoted China to understand and accept socialism greatly. The socialist content the Japanese disseminated and the angle from which they studied the socialist ideology made a great and far reaching influence on the Chinese students who studied in Japan. This certainly confined their understanding of the scientific socialism. The socialism comprehended by the Japanese was more and less changed in the course of dissemination.3. Influence of Movement of studying in Japan on Acceptance of Socialist Ideological Trend by the Chinese. Chinese students studied in Japan disseminated socialist ideology more early than those studied in Russian, more systematically than those studied in Europe. They introduced and propagated scientific socialism first and more systematically.
