Mao Zedong's New Economic Policy was put forward by Mao Zedong and elucidated by Liu Shaoqi and Zhou Enlei in 1956 after the Socialist transformation. Its main idea was: we can make capitalism again after we eliminate capitalism. The capitalism is the complement of the socialist economy. The Policy allows many economy compositions to coexist and encourages people to diversify the economic compositions, and so on.From the background of Mao Zedong's New Economic Policy, this thesis analyzes the crux of the Policy and the reasons why the policy wasn't put into effect. The thesis also sets forth the Policy's theory status, historic significance and enlightenment. It concludes that Mao's New Economic Policy was a reform Plan that was put forward by the first generation leader collective of the CCP Whose representative was Mao Zedong. They tried to perfect the socialist economic system by affirming the achievement of the socialist transformation and construction. The policy is the important contains of Mao Zedong Thought as well as the direct theory origins of today's reform and opening-up policy. Lenin's New Economic Policy inspired it, but it was different from Lenin's. For things at home and abroad and the construction train of thought of the CCP changed, the Policy failed to implement. The study of Mao Zedong's New Economic Policy has an important enlightening role both to understand Denxiaoping Theory and to resolve the problem named capitalism or socialism in the socialist modern construction.
