Present Situantion And Prosect Of China And Asean's Economic And Trade Relations

Based on the present situation of China and ASEAN' s economic and trade relations, this paper quantitatively analyses the effect of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area on China and ASEAN' s economic and trade relations by calculating related data and applying models. The relations of the economic and trade between China and ASEAN have been increasingly developed of late years. Over these years, ASEAN always keeps the fifth trade partner of China, and now China becomes the sixth trade partner of ASEAN also. At the same time, fine and steady development in political promotes the bilateral economic and trade relations. Relations between China and ASEAN enter the best period in history. In order to meet the demand of further economic development for two parties, on 6 Nov. 2001 leaders of China and ASEAN reached the agreement of "to establish China -ASEAN Free Trade Area in ten years" in Brunei. The signature of this agreement has significant meaning, which is bound to cause deep effect on economic and trade relations between China and ASEAN. This effect mainly reflects the following aspects: bilateral trade, structure of merchandise, investment, and the adjustment of industry structure. This paper also puts forward that establishing China-ASEAN is practicable and conforms to the mainstream of the world. It can provide the new driving force for the cooperation development in Asia. Furthermore, set up Free Trade Area between China and ASEAN do not exclude cooperation with other countries. China-ASEAN Free Trade Area is not an exclusive group.This paper contains four sections:1.
