In the recent ten years, the environment of port management have changed deeply, especially with the violent development of container transport, which put forward high request to the planning, management and development of port. In order to win in the fierce competition, the port should get a steady and large amount of source of goods. The carrier has played a greater and greater role in this respect. The liner shipping companies are not only port users, but also the information sources for the owners of cargo and forwarders. So the carriers are the more critical port evaluators than the owners and the forwarders.This thesis focuses on the analysis of how the shipping companies assess the port. The structure of the full paper is as follows: First of all, it analyses the competitiveness of the port market, explains the other measures of port assessment briefly and reviews the relevant documents on port assessment from the port-users' point of view. Secondly, carries on questionnaire investigation, analyses the main qualitative factors, and summarizes the most important six factors on how the shipping companies assess the port. Then it brings forward a Disaggregated Model on port assessment and assesses the parameters. Based on the model, it calculates out the corresponding elasticity and marginal rates of substitution alternately. Finally, the thesis puts forward the measures that the port should take briefly based on the qualitative analysis and the result of the Disaggregated Model.
